Wisconsin clerks worked hard to fix a computer glitch on Thursday that incorrectly placed some voters far away from their?homes and into Africa.
"It's been a little amusing," Sheboygan County Clerk Julie Glancey told msnbc.com on Thursday. "We had a number of voters who showed up on the computer map on the coast of Africa and we had to drag them back to the state of Wisconsin."
It was not clear how many voters were affected by the glitch that caused the computer system to default to an address from across the Atlantic Ocean, Glancey said. She said her county had at least 50?cases.
According to the Journal Sentinel in Milwaukee, the mix-up could cause even more frustration for?some voters already affected by the redistricting law approved by legislators last summer.
The Journal Sentinel was first to report the story.
For example, voters on Election Day could show up at the wrong polling location or not be able to find their name at?all at the polling place, according to the newspaper.
State election officials told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that?they're working with county officers to fix the problem well in advance of the Feb. 21 primary election.
Said Glancey: "We learned that it's just as much work bringing them back from the coast of Africa as it is?bringing them back from across the street."

PRISTINA, Kosovo ? Sami Osmakac, the man accused by U.S. authorities of plotting to bomb Florida nightclubs and a sheriff's office, met with radical Islamists during visits to his native Kosovo, a senior official in the country said Wednesday.
International agencies had alerted Kosovo authorities that Osmakac could be linked to Islamist extremists, the official told The Associated Press. He said the 25-year old naturalized U.S. citizen discussed "issues in support of radical elements" with the individuals he met, but declined to disclose further details.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the issue's sensitivity.
U.S. authorities say Osmakac planned to use a car bomb and other weapons in an Islamist-inspired attack in the Tampa area of Florida. He was arrested Saturday ? the day officials said he was planning his attack ? after he allegedly bought disabled explosive devices and firearms from an undercover agent.
Osmakac lived with his parents in a tan stucco home in Pinellas Park, Fla., a small city west of Tampa. He worked occasionally at the Balkan Food Store and Bakery in St. Petersburg, a small store owned by his parents.
He also occasionally visited his Kosovo, where he still has relatives.
Osmakac's aunt, Time Osmankaj, told the AP on Tuesday that Sami Osmakac was last in Kosovo in October 2011, but that she learned of his visit from neighbors and that he did not contact her or other relatives. Kosovo authorities also recorded earlier visits in May 2011.
Kosovo's majority ethnic Albanians are overwhelmingly Muslim and a small minority is Roman Catholic.
The population is a staunch supporter of the U.S. because of America's lead role in NATO's 1999 bombing of Serb forces that drove them out of Kosovo and ended a brutal crackdown on separatist ethnic Albanians.

President Barack Obama might be powerful and well-known, but the White House got some Hollywood star power Wednesday: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie stopped by for a chat with the chief executive.

Brad Pitt was spotted using the cane he's been sporting since an accident while carrying his daughter.
The actors were spotted in the Oval Office by photographers waiting outside for the president to take off for a trip to Chicago.
The White House confirmed Pitt and Jolie were in town to screen Jolie's movie about Bosnian war crimes at the Holocaust museum. They dropped by so the president could talk with Jolie about her work on preventing mass atrocities and combating sexual violence against women.
Pitt was seen sporting a cane, which he's been using following a recent injury.
It's not the first time Obama's met with one of the pair. In 2009 the president met with Pitt to discuss his work rebuilding New Orleans' 9th Ward after Hurricane Katrina.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) ? Support for the frontrunner in Mexico's presidential race, opposition candidate Enrique Pena Nieto, fell by 2.6 percentage points in the first poll of the year after a series of public gaffes dented his lead.
The poll, conducted by Consulta Mitofsky, showed the former governor from the populous State of Mexico garnering 42 percent support when compared to the other two top candidates, a dip from the last survey in November when he received 44.6 percent.
The slip comes after a series of public embarrassments that hit the popularity of the carefully groomed contender for the opposition Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI.
The PRI ruled Mexico for seven decades before being toppled in 2000 by the ruling conservative National Action Party (PAN) party and is now angling to win back power.
Pena Nieto, 45, is hoping his youthful, energetic image will win over voters wary of returning the PRI's old guard to power.
But he recently flubbed several public appearances, first struggling to name a single book beyond the Bible that had influenced him and then failing to know the minimum wage or the cost of corn tortillas, a staple Mexican food.
President Felipe Calderon's PAN still has not picked an official candidate but leading in the ranks of PAN contenders is the only woman in the race, Josefina Vazquez Mota.
Support for her candidacy rose to 20.8 percent in the Mitofsky survey, a steady climb since September of last year when she scored 17.2 percent.
Vazquez Mota, 50, who was Calderon's education minister before becoming a leader in the lower house of Congress, is battling for the candidacy with former finance minister Ernesto Cordero and seasoned PAN politician Santiago Creel.
Among PAN voters, Cordero and Creel were trailing Vazquez Mota by more than 10 points according to Mitofsky's poll.
Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, former Mexico City mayor and the candidate for the leftist PRD party, narrowly lost the 2006 election to Calderon but is now gaining support as he drops his fiery left-wing rhetoric for a more moderate platform.
The poll showed Lopez Obrador with 17.2 percent support compared to the other top contenders, up from 16.1 percent in November.
Lopez Obrador promises to bring the army back to barracks, effectively reversing Calderon's deployment of troops in a war against drug cartels that has killed more than 46,000 people in the last five years.
But he is still a divisive figure in Mexico, having alienated centrist voters by launching massive protests that choked the capital for months after his razor-thin 2006 loss.
Polling 1,000 people from December 26 to 29, the survey had a 95 percent confidence rate, and a margin of error of up to 3.1 percentage points.
