ALISO VIEJO ? Flames were contained to the garage in a fire at a two-story home early Tuesday morning, fire officials said.

A family of four and their dog were alerted to the flames by a smoke detector and got out of the house at Sandbridge unharmed, said Capt. Marc Stone of the Orange County Fire Authority.

The fire caused about $105,000 in damage, he said.

The fire was reported before 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Though the garage and a vehicle inside were heavily damaged, the flames did not spread to the rest of the home, Stone said.

"(Firefighters) did a good job of keeping the fire to the garage," he said.

Firefighters battled the fire for about 45 minutes, Stone said. The flames were fed by the fuel in a vehicle in the garage.

The flames caused about $60,000 worth of damage to the home and $45,000 to its contents, officials said.

Fire investigators believe the flames may have been caused by an electrical problem.
