Tito Ortiz injured his neck and has been forced to withdraw from his Nov. 2 main event bout against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson in what was to be Bellator's initial foray into pay-per-view.
Ortiz, who frequently was injured during his stint with the UFC, tweeted a photo that said, "I know everything happens for a reason, but sometimes, I wish I knew what that reason was." Other than that, Ortiz has not commented.
Bellator did not comment publicly yet, but CEO Bjorn Rebney and Spike's Kevin Kay plan a 5:30 p.m. ET news conference to discuss the card.
Sources have said that Jackson will instead fight Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal, but that has yet to be confirmed.
The co-main event between Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler and ex-champion Eddie Alvarez is a rematch of a fantastic 2011 bout.
But the card wasn't doing well at the gate, and it is unclear at this stage whether it will remain on pay-per-view or be switched to Spike.
